Local Information
Finistère is the western-most region in Brittany and is proud of its unique Breton heritage. Three quarters of its borders are coastline ranging from the beautiful resort beaches on the south coast (e.g. Benodet, Fouesnant and Beg Meil), to the rugged and sandy coves of the stunning Crozon peninsula.
The terrain of Finistère is mostly hilly with some peaks reaching mountainous heights within the Monts d'Arrée national park and the Montagnes Noires region. There are several large cities in Finistère, the two most important being the cosmopolitan and beautiful city of Quimper which stretches over the rivers Odet and Steir, and the bustling university city of Brest with an airport serviced by both
Flybe
and
Ryanair
both offering budget flights to the UK and Ireland. Both cities have direct
trains
to Paris.
